Ciao!
Probably Italian Podcast is hosted by cousins, Lindsay Manganelli Brodie and Lauren Manganelli. Growing up with a loud, food-centered, American-Sicilian family in the Midwest, they developed an appreciation (some might say obsession) for everything Italian. From mouth-watering pasta dishes, to the beautiful language, to Stanley Tucci, they simply can’t get enough. Every week, they explore a new aspect of their heritage, share family stories and traditions, and interview people of all walks of life about how they keep their own culture alive.
About Lindsay
Lindsay grew up in St. Louis, Missouri, but found herself in Charleston, SC when she was 22. She now has a husband, 2 spunky girls, 2 hilarious westies, and fluffy kitten.
Her fondest memories of her childhood include inventing games with her many cousins, eating delicious Italian bread while watching Wheel of Fortune with her grandma, and quizzing her great grandmother on Italian vocabulary. She is always coming up with ways to continue family traditions with her daughters, and discovering new ones. Most are food related.
Her hobbies include hiking, reading, going to concerts, and starting random hobbies and quitting them 6 months later. She is determined to keep this podcast going longer than that.
About Lauren
Lauren is made of summer evenings in the Midwest, the smell of new chapter books, and family dinner with Seinfeld on in the background. She and her brother grew up surrounded by aunts, uncles, and cousins.
From her mother’s mellow, music-loving Irish side of the family to her dad’s loud-laughing Italian side, Lauren was lucky to spend most every weekend with family. Her Italian grandma’s basement was a particularly magical place to be together, and she deeply misses the basement’s wood paneling, secret hole to the center of the earth, and oven full of her great grandma’s pizza.
Today, Lauren is an educator who loves to draw, crochet, and stroll with her boyfriend and his feisty dog. She has a cat that sometimes lets Lauren pet her. When she feels particularly land-locked, Lauren longingly searches for Italian beaches online. Lauren loves being Italian and she hopes you’ll forgive her because she’s probably told you about it already.
